Deanestor is one of the UK's leading furniture and fitout specialists working nationally with major contractors and construction clients on large and award-winning hospital, education, student living and build-to-rent schemes.

We have manufacturing and distribution facilities in Mansfield, Nottinghamshire and our Scottish operation is based in Fife. We employ more than 150 staff, including designers, estimators, project managers, site managers, production operatives, accounts, purchasing and installation fitters.

Estimators

Mansfield, Nottinghamshire

We are expanding our team of Estimators, based at our head office in Mansfield. This is an excellent opportunity to join a growing, privately owned and financially strong UK manufacturer and subcontractor, and offers fantastic opportunities for success and career development.

 

Role Summary

The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing detailed work estimates in accordance with drawings, bills of quantities, equipment schedules, specifications, and related documents.

You will also collaborate and provide support to our business development teams to help generate new business in a highly competitive market.


Key Tasks

  • Accurately prepare computer-itemised estimates from both Bill of Quantities and drawing take-offs
  • Work closely with our Senior Estimator to identify any contractual obligations involved with enquiries and formulate the most effective solution to minimise risk
  • Develop and maintain working relationships with clients - many of whom are long-standing, repeat customers
  • Maximise the success of converting quotes into orders by liaising with our business development team and working towards our sales strategies and targets
  • Engaging in our company ethos of optimising our efficient handling of all enquiries.

 

Qualifications and Experience

  • Previous estimating experience within manufacturing, construction and the FF&E sector is desirable but not essential as training will be provided
  • Experience of Microsoft packages – Excel, Access, Outlook etc
  • Background in working to drawings or preparing Bill of Quantities
  • Education - A level or equivalent is preferred as a minimum.

Project Managers - Midlands and Scotland

Following an influx of new orders and a really strong project pipeline across each sector, we are expanding our project management team, particularly in the Midlands and Scotland.

 

We are looking to recruit Project Managers who can demonstrate drive, commitment to excellence and an eye for detail to work on large fast-paced FF&E contracts, helping us to deliver projects to the highest standards.

 

As the main point of contact for our customers, our Project Managers work across every stage of each contract and liaising with multiple teams in the business - from contract award stage, programme development and management, design development, product approvals, production planning, procurement, overseeing site installation and reporting through to handover on time and on budget.


Our Requirements:

  • Ideally you will be from a healthcare, education, student accommodation/build-to-rent apartments construction or kitchen fitout background and with a good technical knowledge of construction.
  • You should be educated to a high standard, ideally with a construction-related qualification
  • You will hold a valid CSCS (Construction Skills Certification Scheme) card
  • You will need a good understanding of contract administration procedures and be familiar with JCT design and build minor and major works contracts and NEC3 subcontracts
  • You will be required to travel and work away from home at times to service our projects and outside normal working hours to meet project demands.


Role and Responsibilities:

  • Managing the delivery of internal furniture and fitout packages for major new build and refurbishment projects within the agreed budget and required programme
  • Working on multiple projects at any one time - so the ability to multi-task and have a flexible approach are essential
  • The preparation of project reports to demonstrate progress to programme, client constraints, key tasks and demands and compliance to budget
  • Overseeing, managing and leading multiple project teams to achieve the objectives of each contract to the satisfaction of our customers every time
  • Making product recommendations to customers, providing technical advice and support when required and managing the approvals process
  • Managing and identifying risk and communicating with customers promptly, confidently and accurately to mitigate risk and financial exposure
  • Work closely with our commercial team to maintain and ensure compliance to budget and to maintain profitability with accurate records and managing project variations.
  • Attend and communicate with other stakeholders to ensure the success of each project and encourage repeat business
  • Work collaboratively with all other departments in the business when required
  • Attend site meetings and ensure that the objectives of each project are successfully achieved from both a client and a Deanestor objective
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant Health and Safety regulations and to take a lead in preparing risk assessments and method statements in line with our contractual obligations
  • Additional responsibilities as required.


Knowledge and Skills:

  • A health and safety qualification - ideally SMSTS or equivalent and a good understanding of construction-related H&S processes and CDM
  • The ability to question and challenge when required to achieve the required outcomes
  • Good organisational and planning skills with attention to detail and a passion for quality
  • Commercial awareness and the ability to manage budgets
  • Excellent communications skills - both written and verbal - and at every level both within the business and our clients and project stakeholders
  • An outstanding team player and leader with the ability to work independently with minimal supervision and the confidence to make good decisions under pressure
  • The ability to demonstrate drive, commitment and confidence to achieve success on every project.
